Harpist Catherine Reid made her solo recital debut in 2022 as a Peggy and Yale Gordon Trust featured concert artist in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from the Royal College of Music (London) with a Master of Music in Performance with Merit in 2025, where she studied with Daphne Boden. Catherine has also received a Bachelor of Music with high distinction and performer’s certificate from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where she studied with Kathleen Bride. She is also an accomplished pianist, taking lessons from 2006 until 2020, and completed Trinity College London music theory exams grades 2-8. Catherine currently teaches both piano and harp in at-home and Primary school settings, and freelances as a soloist and orchestral musician. Her music teachers have taught her a wide range of repertoire and pedagogy techniques, the most important of which is balancing positive reinforcement with constructive criticism. It is as important to recognize progress made as it is to identify opportunities for growth. She also ensures pupils understand how musical skills such as performing and practicing strengthen discipline and public speaking. These in turn are are applicable to a wide variety of non-musical endeavors pupils may encounter. For Catherine, teaching is both a way of sharing her love of harp and teaching musical skills that are practical for a student's future. She is looking forward to focusing on her students while continuing to perform with Odyssey Festival Orchestra and take advantage of other performance opportunities.
